4.5.20.3 Arrange ADL (OT) assessment

ADL Activities of daily living assessments are performed by Occupational Therapists at the request of and for the use by an Agent to determine strategies to maximise a worker’s independence, assess a worker’s functional capacity and assess the necessity and appropriateness of the requested household services.

An Agent should review all information on file alongside the household help policy and ready reckoners prior to arranging an ADL assessment.

Agents must complete the Referral for Activities of Daily Living (ADL) assessment form and provide to the OT Occupational therapy is a client-centred health profession concerned with promoting health and well being through occupation. The primary goal of occupational therapy is to enable people to participate in the activities of everyday life. Occupational therapists achieve this outcome by working with people and communities to enhance their ability to engage in the occupations they want to, need to or are expected to do or by modifying the occupation or the environment to better support their occupational engagement . when requesting an ADL assessment. All ADL referrals must be clear and state a clear purpose. If the worker has injuries or conditions that are not compensable or required to be reviewed, ensure it is clearly stipulated in the referral.

If a worker does not have an entitlement to a service due to Policy or for other circumstances, an ADL is not required to make a claims decision.
